Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Review

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a video game developed by Platinum games and produced by Kojima Productions. The metal gear series is hugely popular in the gaming fraternity because of its slick action and entertaining storyline. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the ninth installment of this hugely popular series and the gaming community has huge expectations from it.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance almost did not happen. It was originally slated for a 2009 release date but had to be shelved because of some technical problems. The projected was reopened in 2011 after Platinum Games joined the party.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is compatible with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game is about a cyborg Ninja Raiden and his fight against a private military company known as Desperado Enterprises.  Raiden takes on the might of Desperado Enterprises singlehandedly. His weapons include a katana like sword and rocket launcher. The game features sophisticated swordplay and cutting techniques (Zan-Datsu”.

There is a lot of interesting game play for the players. For example, the game allows you to cut virtually everything. You can cut through pillars, tanks, and even helicopters. The pre launch video provides a tantalizing glimpse of the action. Raiden swoops down on a hovering helicopter and slices through it with his katana blade. The helicopter hurtles to the ground before exploding into a ball of orange flame.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance provides gamers with a stealth mode allowing Raiden to increase his speed and climb over certain areas. It allows him to engage the enemy with stealth rather than hand to hand mode. Points are accumulated after destroying enemy helicopter, tanks and personnel. These points can be used to buy more weapons for Raiden to make him even more powerful.

Plot

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is not an installment in the strictest sense of the word but more of a spinoff. Raiden is shown working in an African country in this installment. His work is to train military personnel in VIP security. The events of this game happen four years after Guns of Patriots. Raiden has grown up by now but he is still conflicted by the years spent in Liberia as a child soldier.

Raiden is given the job of protecting the prime minister. He suffers a setback when the prime minister is kidnapped by Sundowner who works for Desperado Enterprises. The Prime Minister is killed and Raiden survives but barely.

Raiden is provided a better black armor that makes him more powerful. He gets an opportunity to hit back at his adversary when he comes to know about a military coup. What follows is exciting action all the way that takes Raiden to the headquarters of Desperado Enterprises. Raiden suffers from a split personality and his dark side keeps coming back providing a unique twist to the story.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is slated for February 19 release in North America and a later, February release in Europe and Japan.
