MSN In Talks With Myspace Over Music Project

Although Myspace has lost out to Facebook over the last year it still has a dominant place in the music sector, with its unique music portal it offers much more in the way of social networking for music fans. Talks with MSN to join up together could strengthen this role further.

These reports have come from technology blog AllThings D.

Although these talks were thought to be in their early stages it still seemed quite an important release of information. The cost and financial figures have not yet been discussed.

The deal is thought to include licensing music content. MSN has its own music portal named MSN Music but it has never become as popular as some other music websites. Striking a deal between Myspace and MSN would strengthen both services and distinguish Myspace further from Facebook. This could be beneficial for Myspace to claw back some of its lost social media patch online.

MSN is also set to benefit as Myspace Music has been dubbed 'more appealing than MSN Music, so a joint venture would see both companies benefit
