Facebook has been getting hugely popular over the past couple of years but it wasn't until a recent survey was released by Hitwise Experian showing Facebook growing at a rate of 194 percent from last year.
Currently Facebook holds a 59 percent market share in the social networking world, thats twice the amount of Myspace. Reports show that although Facebook will have contributed to Myspace's decline, the new microblogging platform Twitter has taken its part too. Over the last year Twitter has seen massive growth acceleration too at more than 1000 percent since the same time last year.
Myspace did hold some honour though, they ranked number1 for the amount of time people spend on social network sites at an average 26 minutes.
This survey also revealed that in general older age groups are using social networks more too. A growth in the 55 plus age group has seen a big rise too. On Facebook the over 55 age group accounts for 13 percent of its users.
