THE GOP PARTY THAT SAID; "COUNTRY FIRST", APPARENTLY WASN’T REFERRING TO "AMERICA

Republicans would now seem to be the ones that hate America.

It’s been disgusting how the right-wing has been disrespecting the office of the American president with their posters of President Obama as Hitler, pictures as a witch doctor or the revolting signs saying that “President Obama should have been buried with Senator Ted Kennedy”.   But they are not just doing this at the Town Hall Meetings and the lobbyist organized, non-grass-root Tea Parties, but the disrespect and now illegal actions are also going on with a number of Republican politicians. First let’s start with the four Republican politicians that illegally visited the interim president of Honduras which was in total defiance of the US policy about supporting any foreign administration that came to power through a military coup.  The Obama administration has condemned the coup that ousted President Manuel Zelaya and brought Roberto Micheletti to power.  Republican House Representative Douglas Lamborn (R-CO) acknowledged that, "Now, let me say, they should have arrested him [Zelaya] and thrown him in jail instead of sending him out of the country," Last week’s trip highlighted a serious divide between congressional Republicans and the administration over Honduras and Latin America policy in general. The White House has been working to reinstate Zelaya.  In the mean time, the US and the European Union have suspended aid to Honduras due to the military coup.  The Republicans, led by Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, also met with four candidates for a scheduled Nov. 29, Honduran presidential election and with the members of the Honduras Supreme Court

Due to the current political divide, Senator DeMint has also been blocking the U.S. Senate votes on Arturo Valenzuela, Obama's nominee to be assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs, and for Thomas Shannon, his nominee for U.S. ambassador to Brazil. Individuals from both sides seem to agree that the actions by Senator DeMint are totally a political demonstration against the new president.

The Honduras trip also raised the ire of Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The Massachusetts Democrat issued a formal statement blasting "DeMint's intransigence."

In another situation
Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) announced to the National Review that he will be personally leading a Republican "truth squad" to the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, where he will make it clear to international leaders “not to believe that the United States will pass legislation to deal with the issue”.

"Now, I want to make sure that those attending the Copenhagen conference know what is really happening in the United States Senate," said Senator Inhofe. "Some people, like Senator Barbara Boxer, will tell the conference, with Waxman-Markey having passed in the House, that they can anticipate that some kind of bill will pass EPW."

Isn’t it just great to see how seriously that President Obama’s foreign policy is taken these days, when a member of the political minority sends his own party’s delegation to an international conference, in order to undermine his government while telling other countries that they can't work with the United States.
Ah yes, that’s showing serious respect for the policies and for the office of the President of the United States……Right!  Then there was the very public response with the headline on the Weekly Standard, stating; “Republicans cheer America losing Olympics”.  The Weekly Standard of course, is the Republican’s neo-conservative yellow-sheet publication that has basically defined the Republican agenda for much of this past year.  They are also one of the biggest pushers of the Obama “birther” garbage.  In a YouTube video that has been seen by millions and has been played on FOX NEWS hundreds of time, "Cheers erupted at the WEEKLY STANDARD world headquarters as they clapped and high-fived the president’s loss of the Olympics".  In addition, their Twitter post was entitled "Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!".  Even this posting for bragging that the President had not been successful in Copenhagen eventually embarrassed even the Weekly Standard’s management and they toned down the post a few hours later. In addition, in a bizarre situation at the CPAC Conference with the previously unconfirmed Bush U.N. Ambassador, John Bolton.  Mr. Bolton fantasized about America being the victim of a future “terrorist nuclear attack at the Chicago Olympics”, had the president succeeded.  This “fantasy” garnered laughter from the CPAC audience.  Bolton reportedly stated that this attack would be because of “America’s draconian immigration policies”…..whatever that means….?.  It’s frightening to think that this man could have become the full-time, “real” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.Glenn Beck, the FOX NEWS, far-right superstar of conspiracy theories and hate speech told his listeners to "enjoy this" and to "savor this moment" in his lead-in for announcing that America had lost the Olympics. "For those upset that I sound gleeful", the Drugster, Rush Limbaugh confessed to his listeners, "I am. I don't deny it. I'm happy".  An editorial on Andrew Brietbart's new US anti-government website said "it is kind of like the world community saying to President Obama, 'Not only no, but Hell No.'Hell No” to America, it would seem, is just fine with Republicans, so long as America is being lead by someone who is not “One Of Them”.  Apparently, America is worth doing anything and everything to protect it, unless a Democrat is running the show, then it's perfectly acceptable to cheer for its destruction. Democrats and liberals did not root for America or the president to fail when NYC wanted the Olympics and they didn't cheer when that bid failed under President George W. Bush.At one time, it was mutually agreed that political disagreements within the US were to “stop at the nation’s shores”.  Apparently, the GOP has decided that attitude toward the nation’s leadership only applies to Republican politicians.   I guess Democrats are fair game, even if they are the current president. By their own metric, by their own actions and rhetoric, Republicans would now seem to be the ones that hate America and want it to fail.
