Melinda Allen, a Food Safety and Quality Consultant in the food industry will be the speaker at a webinar that GlobalCompliancePanel, a leading regulatory and compliance continuing education training provider, will organize a webinar on June 26. The topic of this webinar is, “Food Traceability Program and Efficacy Verification”. Description: Having a food traceability and efficacy verification program is essential for food companies if they have to avoid detection of pathogen and allergen contamination that could catch the FDA's and USDA's eyes. They should also take care of customer specification deviations. Ideally, food companies should have a program that will facilitate tracking of source of raw materials that went into the manufacture of such a product, as well as the location of the finished products, if a complaint were to be received at this stage from customers. On its part, the FDA and other relevant regulatory bodies should carry out a detailed and impartial investigation of the complaint through scientific and objective documentation review. This will go a long way in restoring customer confidence in the system. It will also stunt the scope of affected product. These processes are easier said than done, because while they appear simple on the surface; the reality is quite different. A glance at most such exercises reflects a failure to meet customer expectations. Making this process more meaningful and pertinent to the reality on the ground is the purpose of this webinar. It will help Department personnel from each of the involved areas get an understanding of their role in product traceability. Management Team members too, will gain important insights that will help improve the program’s review and annual assessment. The speaker will drive home the importance of daily process documentation to effective product recovery. She will talk about Product traceability requirements for meeting Food Safety and Quality standards as required by BRC fundamental clause 5.0, SQF item 4.5, 9 CFR. These areas are covered at this session: o A step by step checklist and role summary for the Recall Coordinator o Summary page for reporting recovery findings o Customer notification letters o Supplier notification letters o A list of documentation necessary for a thorough investigation of product issues. o Best in plant practices for achieving an effective product trace o Recovery Compliance requirements for audit schemes such as regulatory, GFSI and National Brands o A description of the costs of an expanded vs a targeted recovery. o Relevance to Crisis Management and Product Recalls ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When: June 26, 10:00 AM PDT | 01:00 PM EDT ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By whom: Melinda Allen is a Food Safety and Quality Consultant in the Food Industry.
