Infinity Eyewear shares 5 vital steps in choosing proper eyewear for your child.
[Malaysia, November 2011] Statistics show that as many as 1 in 20 preschoolers wear glasses. According to the World Health Organisation (2009), more than 12 million children ages 5 to 15 are visually impaired due to uncorrected refractive errors as a result of near-sightedness, far-sightedness, or astigmatism.
Further research has shown that 80% of all visual impairment, particularly in children, can be improved or corrected with proper eyewear.
Infinity Eyewear, an expert in eye care, cares about your child’s vision and shares with you the 5 vital steps on choosing proper eyewear for your child.
5 vital steps on choosing proper eyewear
1.Choose a proper frame. You may choose to pick a square frame for your round-faced child or a round frame for your angular-faced child. Just remember, choose a relatively small frame: Oversized glasses can hinder a child’s vision further and make your kid look bug-eyed.
2.Be flexible. You may think plastic styles are cuter (bright colors, fun shapes), and they are fine. If you cannot get a good fit, “adjustable frames would be a better option,” says Dana Cohen, a pediatric optician in Medford, MA. It is important to look for flexible temple and hinges, which bends without breaking as easily. It is also more comfortable as it puts less stress on the temples and ears.
3.Focus on the bridge. A nose-pad that is too tight will pinch and prevent the glasses from sitting close enough to your child's eyes. When it is too wide, the frames slip and slide. Ensure that the nose-pads are soft and fitting to prevent slipping. You will know it is right when there is very little space between your child's cheek and the lower rim of the frames.
4.Ear this.
It is important to provide your child with comfortable, soft and secure temple tip pads like ear socks made from a silicone end tubes. Make sure that eyewear is a secure fit that avoids the temple from coming into direct contact with the skin.
5.Opt for safety. Polycarbonate, high tensile lenses are the most impact-resistant. Opt for lenses made from Floating Lens Technology as it provides your child with exceptional comfort, flexibility and fitting.
Introducing Infinity Eyewear’s latest collection- internationally patented Arquo design series which features high tensile lenses and revolutionary, Floating Lens Technology.
Highly sophisticated despite its simplicity, the internationally patented Arquo design (Floating Lens Technology) makes use of an original tension based interlocking system between an invisible rim and a bar to create ultra-light eyewear. The frames are constructed without a rimlock that is normally used to keep lenses attached to the spectacle frame.
Arquo, made with your child’s health in mind, not just designed for short-term cosmetic beauty purposes, but long-term vision-related health. It is easy on the eyes and is designed to cater to your individual needs.
