According to the lawsuit, plaintiffs Angela and Patricia Sevilla were travelling northbound on the 101 freeway approaching the Lynn Rd. overpass. A very large 18 wheeler truck hauling two trailers fully loaded with thousands of pounds of sand was also exiting the Lynn Rd. overpass when it attempted to make a tight left turn and flipped over. The truck spilled its entire load onto the freeway below, smashing onto the Sevilla’s vehicle. Said a witness at the scene, “I thought the overpass was collapsing!” As a result of this freak accident, the Sevilla’s roof and front end imploded and the front windshield blew out. On scene, both Sevillas were transported to Los Robles Medical Center by ambulance.
The hospital records submitted as proof in the lawsuit show that both Angela and Patricia Sevilla suffered traumatic injuries following the accident. Angela Sevilla’s medical records show a lumbar compression fracture, lumbar disc herniation, torn meniscus in her right knee, and cubital tunnel syndrome in her right arm. Patricia Sevilla’s medical records similarly show multiple compression and superior endplate fractures, lumbar annular tears, right shoulder injuries, thoracic outlet syndrome, loss of hearing and chronic severe headaches.
