White Allen Chevrolet Excited for the 2014 Corvette Stingray

The seventh generation Corvette was unveiled this week by Chevrolet at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Chevrolet announced this week that the seventh generation of its best-selling sports car, the Corvette, will be rolling into dealerships later this year. The auto maker revealed the all-new model at this year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The 2014 model year Corvette will feature the name “Stingray” for the first time since it was retired in 1967 along with the second generation Corvette. The release of the 2014 Corvette also coincides with the model’s 60th anniversary.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is equipped with a 6.2-liter LTI V-8 engine that has an estimated 450 horsepower, and 450 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful standard Corvette in the model’s history. The Stingray can do zero to 60 mph in less than four seconds, while remaining the most fuel-efficient Corvette Chevrolet has ever made. The fuel economy is due in part to the Corvette’s carbon fiber good and removable roof panel; composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels; and a new aluminum frame, to name a few.

The Stingray’s engine features direct injection, variable valve timing, and an active fuel management system for optimal fuel efficiency. The latter allows the Corvette’s engine to throttle down to four cylinders while the car is cruising, and rev up to its full eight cylinders when accelerating or driving in city traffic.

Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer, commented that “We believe the Corvette represents the future of modern performance cars because it delivers more power, more driving excitement and better fuel efficiency.” Juechter continued, “The result is better performance by every measure. The 2014 Corvette delivers the fastest acceleration, the most cornering grip, the most track capability, the best braking performance and what we expect to be the best fuel economy ever for a standard Corvette.”

White Allen Chevrolet is excited for the first in-person glimpse of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray when it hits their Dayton dealership later this year. Keep informed about this and other Chevrolet news by following White Allen Chevrolet on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WhiteAllenChevy.
