This week, White Allen Chevrolet helped out a couple whose Christmas gifts were stolen by donating new gifts to their family.
A local family had their house burglarized last weekend while their daughter had emergency surgery at Dayton Children’s Hospital. Three-year-old Bailey Prater had her appendix removed, as well as a hernia and stones taken out. Her parents, Kristina and Daniel Prater were by her side the whole time, leaving their Huber Heights house empty. When they returned, they discovered that thieves had broken into their house and stolen, among other things, the children’s Christmas presents.
Daniel Prater had recently lost his construction job, so the family was facing a Christmas with no gifts for their children. On Tuesday, local news station ABC22 ran a story on the family, which caught the attention of White Allen Chevrolet. The Dayton dealership had raised money to buy toys for patients at Dayton Children’s Hospital, and decided to give the toys to the Prater family instead.
White Allen Chevrolet held a bowling fundraiser back in November to help raise the money. A total of 18 teams showed up to the fundraiser, as well as some supporters who chose not to bowl. White Allen managed to raise $500 from the bowling fundraiser, as well as from raffles. The dealership also held two 50/50 drawings at their downtown Dayton location, which helped raise a further $331.
White Allen Chevrolet prides itself on its service to the Dayton area community. Currently, they are asking customers to write Christmas cards to a boy in Kentucky who has stage 4 cystic fibrosis, and has been given 3 weeks to live. The boy, Dalton Dingus, is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most Christmas cards received, which currently stands at 35,000. Those who want to help can stop by White Allen to write out a card.
