Toyota Racing has recently come up with the Dream Build Challenge in which four teams, led by professional racers, compete to create the most incredible customized vehicle from a completely stock Toyota. The teams are led by Antron Brown (Top Fuel Drag Racing), Clint Bowyer (NASCAR), Kyle Busch (NASCAR), and Alexis DeJoria (Funny Car Drag Racing) and each is going in a completely unique direction.
Starting with a Toyota Tundra, Alexis DeJoria plans to make the ultimate off-road racer. So far, her team has fitted long-travel suspension, a TRD supercharger, and a custom, leather wrapped, roll cage into the Tundra. They still have a lot to do though with a JBL audio system, and a custom fuel cell still on the list of things to do! On the other side of the spectrum, Clint Bowyer is taking a Toyota Prius and turning it into a high-tech showpiece. They have already crammed quite a bit into the Prius; including 45 ft. of custom fiber-optic lighting, a side view camera system that replaces the mirrors, a deluxe 16 speaker stereo system, six crossovers, two amplifiers, seriously lowered suspension, and over 360 Toyota logos!
Kyle Busch’s Rowdy Edition Toyota Camry is approaching completion after hours of customization. A custom body kit, NASCAR style front splitter, and aerodynamic belly pans have all been custom fabricated by hand! Now the team works to perfect the interior of this Camry with reworked upholstery and a custom electronic entertainment system. Antron Brown has stuck with the drag racing theme and is building a “DragQuoia” that started life as a Toyota Sequoia. By cutting more than 2,000 lbs from the weight of the car, adding forced induction and nitrous, swapping for super-wide, 21.5 inch rear tires and widened rear fenders, and throwing in a five-point racing harness, this beast is set to get families where they need to go fast.
