With Ford Focus, F-150 and Fiesta, company has three of top five performers
Ford closed 2012 by announcing that the 2013 Ford Focus had become the best-selling car in the world. In addition to being popular globally, the newest Focus is consistently a fast-moving vehicle at Westlie Ford. Westlie Ford is a Portland Ford dealer located in nearby Washougal, Washington.
The claim is based on vehicle registration information provided by Polk. Through September, 737,856 Focus units were registered. That number was promising enough for Ford to project that the vehicle line, with the help of the 2013 Ford Focus, would become the new leader in global sales.
Data collected from Polk also indicated that the perennially popular Ford F-Series line of trucks is the fourth best-selling nameplate for 2012. Another contributor to the over 2 million Ford vehicles sold in the United States was the Ford Fiesta, which ranked fifth in terms of global sales. Polk reported that 560,061 Fiestas were sold from January to September, making it the most popular subcompact.
“Focus and Fiesta represent the best of our One Ford plan,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s executive vice president, Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln. “In just three years, Ford has transformed our global small car lineup and started winning over customers worldwide with vehicles that are not only fun-to-drive but also fuel-efficient – largely thanks to our award-winning EcoBoost engines.”
