NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – Pearson Toyota in Newport News, VA is saying showing its appreciation for veterans by hosting a free AARP Driver Safety course November 6 – 7.
AARP has been helping drivers over the age of 50 improve their driving skills through the AARP Driving Safety courses since 1979. The program is the first and largest course in the country and has given millions of drivers the skills and tools they need to safely travel today’s roads.
The course is packed with useful information like how to maintain a proper following distance, the safest way to change lanes and make turns at intersections, the effects of medications on driving, and reducing driver distractions like eating, smoking, and cell phone use.
The course helps participants learn driving skills, the rules and hazards of the road, how to adjust driving to compensate for normal age-related physical changes, to reduce chances for traffic violations, accidents and injuries, and how to get an insurance discount.
There is not a test, and 97 percent of participants change at least on driving behavior.
Pearson Toyota is hosting an AARP Driving Safety class on Thursday, November 6 and Friday, November 7 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. each day. A special offer is also available for veterans. Veterans can take the class for free or save 50 percent on the online course in November.
To sign up, contact Mary Cowling at Pearson Toyota at (757) 874-6000.
