HANOVER, Pennsylvania – Praising the new interior and exterior design, Kelley Blue Book, the leading provider of new and used car information, chose the 2013 Ford Fusion as the Best Redesigned Vehicle, according to Gene Latta Ford in Hanover, PA. The announcement was released today.
"More than a handful of vehicles made the short list of finalists for this year, but ultimately the 2013 Ford Fusion was named KBB.com's 2013 Best Redesigned Vehicle with impressive gains in design, technology and fuel economy," said Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book. "Outside, the new Fusion is clearly the hottest-looking car in a class with no fewer than 13 other entrants. The interior is just as striking, and a variety of technological enhancements and choice of five powertrains is just icing on the cake. Whatever mix of value, power and fuel efficiency you're looking for in a mid-size sedan, the new Fusion has it."
Kelley Blue Book considered over 20 vehicles for this year’s award, considering exterior and interior styling, comfort and convenience features, driving dynamics, fuel economy, value, overall refinement, safety, performance and capability and technology. KBB said the 2013 Ford Fusion “excelled and rose to the top … (and) best demonstrates improvement and superiority relative to its predecessor and competitors.”
The new design of the 2013 Ford Fusion will reduce repair costs by 13 percent, according to Ford. Ford designers made significant improvement to the rear end of the Fusion keeping in mind that 19 percent of all collisions are rear-end collisions.
“Our analysis shows approximately 19 percent of Fusion collisions involve a rear impact,” said Larry Coan, Ford Customer Service Damageability Engineer. “The new decklid integration panel should reduce repair costs in low-speed rear-end collisions by about 13 percent compared to the 2012 Fusion. This should deliver real savings to drivers in densely populated markets where parking can be a challenge.”
