Lincoln Motor Company has recently announced plans to produce a Mustang-based rear-drive coupe in the next couple years. As a part of their current brand-makeover, Lincoln has set out to develop new vehicles and advertisements while striving to return to its original luxury brand roots. This new Mustang-based Lincoln coupe may help Lincoln’s brand reputation.
Not many specifics have been revealed, but Ford Inside News has released that the sports coupe will be rear-drive like the popular Ford Mustang. It will most likely drive a 2.9-liter EcoBoost V6 engine packing power and performance. As far as style, Lincoln will strive to stray away from a typical Mustang style with a larger wheelbase and several detailed exterior features.
While enthusiasts are excited about this possibility, Lincoln has released plans for several all-new vehicles that will be developed and released prior to this “Mustang.” All-new Lincoln MKS, MKX and Navigator vehicles are currently in the works and very-much anticipated. If all releases and sales go accordingly, Lincoln’s Mustang-based coupe project may begin around 2015.
In efforts to gain a luxury-based reputation, Ford has launched a new brand for Lincoln Motor Company. Its new name and strategies have recently been released in a new advertising campaign that debuts the name and highlights the original reputation of the company.
