The Top Safety Pick+ award is new for the 2013 model year. It requires vehicles to earn a good or acceptable rating in the new small overlap collision test. Additionally, the cars must earn the top ‘good’ rating in all other tests. The small overlap collision test simulates a crash into a thin object, like a tree or light pole, in the front corner of the vehicle.
In addition to a high safety score, the 2013 S60 offers ample safety features. Standard safety features include Whiplash Protection System, Side Impact Protection System, Inflatable Curtain, and City Safety. Pedestrian Detection with Auto Brake is an additional technology feature. This feature alerts drivers to a potential collision and stops the car if the driver does not react immediately. Other available safety features include the Blind Spot Information System and parking cameras.
