At the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2013 Ram 1500 was named the 2013 North American Truck/Utility of the year. Each year, a diverse mix of about 49 automotive experts team up to decide which vehicle should be given this prestigious award. The combination of new technologies, best-in-class fuel economy and sturdy, reliable design proved to be worthy of the award this year.

The 2013 Ram 1500 has three available engines in order to match just about any driver’s needs. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine delivers 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. of torque power with best-in-class 25 highway mpg fuel economy ratings. The 5.7L HEMI V8 engine is strong, providing truck drivers 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. of torque power. The final available engine, 4.7L Flex-Fuel V8, generates 310 horsepower and 330 lb-ft. of torque.
Auto critics love the fact that the new 1500 is the only light-duty truck in the United States with an eight-speed transmission available. This helps the truck to deliver best-in-class fuel economy with reliable durability. The 1500 also features the segment’s first 4-corner air suspension that is designed to help improve capability. More first-in-segment technologies featured in the 2013 1500 include a stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics that include grille shutters and active air suspension.
