General Motors (GM) has unveiled the 2013 GMC Terrain, and it is the quickest Terrain to date. The 2013 GMC Terrain with its upgraded powertrain is available at Timbrook Buick GMC in Cumberland, MD. For availability information on the 2013 GMC Terrain, visit Timbrook Buick GMC online.
“This new 2013 Terrain engine delivers the uncompromised performance our customers desire,” said Tony DiSalle, vice president of GMC Marketing. “It’s the most powerful V-6 the brand has ever produced, and our engineers deserve credit for achieving that without sacrificing fuel economy.”
The 2013 GMC Terrain is powered by a 3.6-liter, direct-injected V6 that generates an impressive 301 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque. The torque is boosted 22.5 percent over the previous model year Terrain, and delivers acceleration unrivaled in the large SUV segment.
“Straight-line acceleration to 60 in under seven seconds is a great proof point for the 2013 Terrain, but the benefit this engine upgrade has for drivers goes much deeper,” said Essy Ipakchian, lead development engineer for the Terrain. “They’ll notice improved passing power with fewer downshifts, as well as stronger towing performance.”
What most drivers will find surprising is the ability of the 2013 GMC Terrain to generate high-level output without surrendering fuel economy. The 2013 Terrain returns 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, which is equal to the fuel efficiency of last year’s Terrain.
The upgraded V6 is not the only engine offered in the 2013 GMC Terrain with record-setting output figures. The 2013 Terrain’s standard Ecotec 2.4-liter inline-four-cylinder engine returns a best-in-class fuel rating of 32 mpg highway.
Customer looking for added luxury in their Terrain can opt for the newly added Denali version. “Denali is growing fast,” said DiSalle. “With seven different models, sales for this brand within a brand increased 79 percent from 2010 to 2011. With this in mind, the decision to create a more-upscale Terrain was an easy one.”
