The 2013 Encore utilizes a magnetic charge to engage a clutch on the rear axle preemptively when the Encore is most likely to slip. If no slippage occurs, the preemptive torque control is automatically disengaged by a computer control. This insures that the AWD system is not activated unless completely necessary.
