Seattle architect is the first to design a major project in Mountlake Terrace after its rezoning.

Thanks to the creative vision of Seattle architect Carl Colson, Mountlake Terrace has gained its first major mixed-use project after its Town Center rezoning 5 years ago. The project, Arbor Village, will be a comfortable home to nearby families and professional workspace to local businesses. It’s just the kind of project that the town needs to accommodate its growing community.

In fact, this building has been extremely well received by the residents and business owners of Mountlake Terrace, because it has helped to spur a lot of development activity in the new town center.

This is what Colson had to say about this project:

"This mixed use project is located in the town center which will eventually contain buildings of up to 7 stories. Prior to the new code, the town center contained only single story buildings.

However, the town of Mountlake Terrace rezoned their town center district 5 years ago and I was the first architect to design a major project under the new zoning code.

I performed the services of completing a site feasibility study, a site design, the building design, and getting the project approved by the planning department. Under my careful code research and creative design, this building was approved without a single revision of any kind.

The owner of the building had hoped to get "at least 60 residential units” and by very careful and creative design, I was able to get 123 residential units, vastly improving the value of the property and its rental income.

It’s a privilege to be a part of the continuing development of the town center and it will be great to see the rebirth of the town center of this community”

Carl Colson has over 35 years of valuable experience in all areas of architectural design and construction. He has expertly managed both commercial and residential designs that range from cottage style homes to modern hotels. His designs reflect his clients needs while respecting their budgets. His commitment to excellence often translates into a design that his clients never dreamed possible, yet is exactly what they hoped their project could be.

The 5 story building in Mountlake Terrace accommodates 123 residential units with charming covered decks and boasts 10,000 square feet of retail space. It also has a spacious two level parking garage with 168 convenient and secure parking spaces.

New residents will also appreciate that the design of the units allow for a lot of natural sunlight which creates well lit and inviting living spaces.

Steve Jobs once said, "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected.”

If the success of this new project in Mountlake Terrace is any evidence, than Carl Colson is the Seattle architect to work with for a design that exceeds expectations.
